Jesse Clark is Haitian-American photographer based in Florida. Clark received his B.F.A. in Photography and Imaging from Ringling College of Art + Design in 2023. Clark’s work can be described as vibrant and poetic, with its soft visualizations of Black identity and beauty. We created a setting in my living room to capture the warmth of the new pottery I'm making using decorating slips made from wild clays. In these photos, I imagine that the rich, radiant surfaces of my pottery are equivalent to the Black skin Jesse captures so well in his portrait photography. With the addition of fabrics and clay samples from my collection, Jesse created a classical still life scene in which the pots resonate within the backdrop of a domestic environment.
